<p> It's a bit hard to think, pick and choose but yeah. During my Msc in Italy, my geophysics lecturer said something to me. </p><p>She had this pattern of written and oral exam and she uploads papers for us to read and defend or present right after your oral exam. You have to pass your written exam first though.</p><p>I walked into her office for my oral exam and she called my name; I was shocked! She looked at my script and said to me..... you're such a smart lady. I noticed you during the exam, you wrote nonchalantly like your mind was already on the second trial. Even in class, you're either pressing your phone or distant but once I ask a question you're back and answering correctly.</p><p> </p><p>You are among the lucky few that grasp things easily. I wish I was like you. Always remember; to go really high in our field as a lady you have to work twice as hard. I was in tears at this point of the conversation. I sniffed.... I had made a costly mistake in my calculations. She gave us the formula but I somehow threw away the denominator. That was what led to the speech. She then encouraged me to put in the work required and I would see amazing results...that extra push</p><p> </p><p>I go to those words for inner strength when I am having troubles</p><p> </p><p>I would always remember my Italian geophysics lecturer, Valentina Succo!</p>
